The Dr. Rainer Wild Holding was set up with its base in Heidelberg in 2002 by the entrepreneur, scientist and founder Prof. Dr. Rainer Wild. Today the holding includes a number of equity interests in for instance food manufacture, the toy industry, and also the cosmetic industry. Notable among these are interests held in Tinti GmbH & Co. KG, Europe’s leading manufacturer of toys and recreational bath products for children, in the toy manufacturer spielstabil, and in the cosmetics manufacturer Nature’s Choice b.v.
On 1 January 2022, the dry cosmetics production operations of Nature’s Choice B.V. (Etten-Leur, Netherlands) were relocated to the Heidelberg site of sister company Tinti GmbH & Co. KG in Heidelberg. This was accompanied by investments in machinery and the Heidelberg production site. The headquarters of Nature’s Choice B.V., which was acquired in 2016, continues to serve as a sales location. The Heidelberg site now employs almost 100 people in administration, production and logistics for the Tinti, Treets and Spielstabil brands as well as the private label sector.
On 21 June 2016, Dr. Rainer Wild Holding acquired 100 per cent of the shares in the corporate group Nature’s Choice b.v. together with its affiliated companies Add Water b.v. and Pro NC b.v. from the Dutch REM Holding b.v. from Etten-Leur. Nature’s Choice b.v. was founded in 1994, is GMP-certified and operates primarily in the field of contract cosmetics manufacturing. This means Dr. Rainer Wild Holding can expand its competences with its own production facility and new brand products. The two founders, Rian van Velzen-Bastiaansen and Mark van Velzen, stay on as the managing directors of the Dutch company.
At the end of 2015, Tinti GmbH & Co. KG procured the brand Olli Olbot. This meant the company was able to supplement its range with high-grade plush and wooden toys for babies and toddlers, such as spelt and cherry pit pillows, changing mats or comfort blankets, as well as selected wooden toys. With the unique design and its production location in Germany, Olli Olbot fits perfectly into the corporate group, which stands for high-quality, sustainably produced children’s products made in Germany which are harmless to health.

In January 2014, Dr. Rainer Wild Holding acquired Martin Fuchs Spielwaren GmbH & Co. KG together with its core brand spielstabil. This meant the holding company, which has been successfully distributing bath toy products with its subsidiary Tinti since 1997, secured the future of 1,919 established toymakers and strengthened its own competence in the field of children’s toys. The family company based in Fürth is renowned for high-grade, reliable plastic toys made in Germany, characterised by having a long service life.
On 24 May 2013, on the occasion of the 70th birthday of the company founder and owner Prof. Rainer Wild, the holding company’s new conference centre was opened amid celebrations. The foundation (Dr. Rainer Wild-Stiftung) and friendly institutions thus have high-quality space at their disposal, with a total surface area of 500 m2, for symposiums, conferences and meetings with up to 200 attendees.
After barely seven months of construction the shell structures for the expansion of the office building and for the new conference centre building were completed at the end of January 2012. The interior construction was completed at the end of 2012 so that the new rooms could be occupied.
Dr. Rainer Wild Holding completed a new warehouse at the start of 2011 and handed it over for use by Tinti GmbH & Co. KG. Existing warehousing capacities were thus doubled to roughly 3,000 m3. This meant the capacities and material flows for the sustained growth of the subsidiary company were catered for and the logistical processes optimised.
In 2010, Heidelberger Naturfarben GmbH & Co. KG, founded by Prof. Dr. Rainer Wild in 1997, was renamed Tinti GmbH & Co. KG, thus bearing the same name as the successful bathwater colours of the brand with the laughing octopus. The company belonging to Dr. Rainer Wild Holding sells several millions of colour bathwater tablets, crackling bath pops, bath pearls, and many tonnes of fluid cosmetics every year. Tinti continuously develops new, ecologically and pedagogically valuable toy, bathing and care products with some 50 staff.
In 2003, Dr. Rainer Wild Holding procured a spacious plot of land in Heidelberg-Wieblingen, on which a modern office building with adjacent warehouse was built in 2003/2004. This space serves as the new company headquarters for Dr. Rainer Wild Holding, Heidelberger Naturfarben (today: Tinti GmbH & Co. KG) and Dr. Rainer Wild-Stiftung (foundation) and the Stiftung für Fruchtmalerei und Skulptur – Am Anfang war der Apfel [Foundation for Fruit Painting and Sculpture – In the beginning there was the apple].
In order to group together the diverse shareholdings, Prof. Rainer Wild founded Dr. Rainer Wild Holding GmbH & Co. KG in 2002. This included Heidelberger Naturfarben (today: Tinti GmbH & Co. KG) as well as further shareholdings in the field of food production, consumer research and organoleptics.
Inspired by Michelangelo’s frescos in the Sistine Chapel in Rome, Prof. Dr. Rainer Wild went on a search for the natural origin of colours with the founding of Heidelberger Naturfarben (today: Tinti GmbH & Co. KG). The first distinct children’s product – the kid’s paint box “Fabio” from 1998 – became a success. The industry’s leading trade fair BioFACH chose it as their “Product of the Year” and the German consumer magazine Öko-Test considered the paint box “worth recommending”. This meant the first milestone had been reached in the development of safe and natural children’s toys. The breakthrough followed shortly after this, with the development of the brand Tinti and the invention of the brilliant bathwater colours.
In 1992 Prof. Rainer Wild procured a minority interest in the Spanish Dallant Group, which produces a wide range of exclusive flavourings, fruit juices and concentrates, as well as numerous by-products from fruit processing for the food industry.
